The Story Behind All Brains Grow & BioPlay

Hi, I’m Louloua Smadi El Hajj, founder of All Brains Grow. I’m a neurotherapist, author, sister, and mom—but more than anything, I’m someone who understands what it’s like to feel lost when trying to help a child thrive. My family lived that experience firsthand.

Years ago, we tried every program we could find to help my autistic brother, Milo. But eventually, his progress came to a halt, and he fell into a depression. It was heartbreaking and overwhelming—until we found Dr. Lynette Louise.

Lynette isn’t just a family therapist; she’s a mother of eight, several of whom are neurodivergent, and an expert in helping children achieve meaningful growth. She introduced us to her innovative methods, rooted in behavior, neuroplasticity, and biology, and showed us how to adapt our responses to Milo’s needs in real time.

Thanks to her guidance, Milo grew into a happy, confident, independent 30-year-old chef — something we couldn’t have imagined during his toughest years. And while this transformation changed his life, it also changed mine. As I worked with other families, I realized they were facing the same struggles we once did. They needed access to what Lynette had given us.

As BioPlay evolved, I knew that expanding it required a partner who deeply understood both its philosophy and the realities of working with children who think and learn differently.

That’s when I partnered with Krystel Alhayek, someone who had already proven her dedication to helping neurodivergent children and their families using Bioplay.

Krystel worked directly with Lynette, coaching a family with an autistic child and applying her methods effectively. But what made her stand out wasn’t just her ability to implement these techniques; it was her skill in bridging theory with real-world practice, making BioPlay concepts accessible and actionable. She wasn’t just great at applying Lynette’s teachings; she excelled at teaching them to other professionals and adapting the approach across different settings.

With Krystel on board with Lynette and I, we’ve taken BioPlay to the next level, making it accessible to families worldwide and ensuring that every child has the opportunity to learn in a way that truly works for them.

What Is BioPlay?

BioPlay was developed by Lynette after years of working with children and families across the world. It’s a therapeutic teaching approach rooted in the principles of neuroplasticity and fast, adaptive responding to help children learn, grow, and achieve greater independence. Lynette’s methods were life-changing, but they needed to be structured in a way that could reach more families.

That’s where All Brains Grow comes in.

Together, Lynette, Krystel, and I refined, expanded, and organized BioPlay into a comprehensive program that could be taught and applied to different family and professional settings. Our goal was to give parents the tools to respond confidently to their child’s behaviors and foster long-term independence and emotional well-being.

Why BioPlay?

BioPlay was developed by Dr. Lynette Louise, a family therapist and mother of eight, several of whom are neurodivergent. Her lifelong work with children and families revealed a common frustration: parents trying countless reward systems, consequences, and therapies but not seeing the lasting progress they hoped for.

Lynette realized that the key wasn’t in controlling behavior—it was in changing how the brain itself learns and grows. Over time, she developed BioPlay as a feedback-driven, brain-based approach that rewires the brain through real-time responses, play, and interaction. This method has transformed the lives of countless children, helping them build the independence and self-regulation necessary for long-term success.

BioPlay wasn’t built overnight. It grew from decades of Lynette’s hands-on experience, her expertise in biofeedback and feedback loops, and her deep understanding of neuroplasticity—the brain’s ability to change based on experiences. The approach combines these principles with playful, meaningful responses to create an environment where growth happens naturally.

“I had a real hard time with what to call it. I wanted a name that implies fun and lightness, something that tells you that you’re not just supporting your child—you’re changing their brain through play, interaction, and biology. The feedback system behind BioPlay is the same concept I used with biofeedback, where every response shapes the brain. That’s why it ended up being called BioPlay.” — Lynette

What Is BioPlay?

BioPlay is a behavioral approach designed to rewire the brain by helping children build emotional regulation, independence, and confidence through the way parents respond, play, and interact with them every day. Instead of relying on traditional therapies or compliance-based methods, BioPlay focuses on natural learning and connection, making self-regulation easier to achieve.

With BioPlay, the goal isn’t to control behavior but to foster brain development in a way that feels sustainable and stress-free for both the child and the parent. The approach transforms how parents respond to their child, helping them guide the development of critical brain pathways for emotional regulation and decision-making.

How BioPlay Works

Many families come to BioPlay after feeling stuck—having tried rewards, punishments, or even therapy without seeing lasting results. The problem often isn’t the child’s ability to learn but the fact that their brain hasn’t yet developed the pathways needed to regulate emotions, learn, or adapt.

BioPlay helps build those pathways through everyday play and interaction. Here’s how it works:

  • Strengthening brain connections: Every time a parent responds intentionally to their child, they reinforce brain pathways that support emotional regulation, decision-making, and self-motivation.
  • Natural learning and growth: Play and meaningful feedback are used to create enjoyable learning experiences, making behavioral changes feel organic and sustainable.
  • Long-term independence: Over time, children develop the skills to regulate emotions and behavior on their own, reducing their need for constant external support.

Why BioPlay is Different

Unlike traditional behavioral approaches that focus on managing behavior through rewards, punishments, or strict compliance, BioPlay targets the root cause: the brain’s development. It uses real-time feedback to help children learn, self-regulate, and stay motivated naturally. Parents aren’t just managing meltdowns—they’re reshaping how their child’s brain functions.

BioPlay is designed to fit seamlessly into everyday life. Parents learn how to use everyday moments—playtime, meal prep, or even a walk outside—to build their child’s independence and emotional resilience. No rigid protocols or micromanagement are needed, and the process is designed to be sustainable for families.

What BioPlay Teaches Parents

  • Fast, meaningful responses: Parents learn to respond quickly and intentionally to their child’s behaviors, creating real-time learning opportunities that foster growth.
  • Natural motivators: Rather than relying on external rewards, the brain is motivated by the natural rewards of meaningful interaction and feedback, making learning more effective.
  • Lasting emotional regulation: As children build stronger brain pathways, they develop the ability to manage their emotions, solve problems, and make decisions independently.

Creating Long-Term Change

BioPlay focuses on creating lasting growth. By building the brain’s capacity for self-regulation, emotional stability, and independence, the benefits extend far beyond the immediate moment. Parents gain confidence in their ability to support their child, while children gain the tools they need to navigate life with resilience and self-motivation.

With BioPlay, you’re not just responding to behavior—you’re transforming the way your child learns and grows. Families have seen this approach create meaningful, lasting change, and it’s our mission to share it with parents everywhere.
